If you have an interest in joining the board, following is some information on what to expect as a board member and how to start the process.
Expectations of New Board Members
The role of the Board of Trustees, as defined in the Association bylaws, is to manage all of the affairs, property, and interests of the Corporation. There are seven board positions – 4 officers and 3 trustees. The basic duties of these positions are:
President – presiding officer at all board meetings
Vice President - fills in when President is absent
Secretary - takes meeting minutes and is responsible for maintaining all board records
Treasurer - reviews bank and credit card statements and financial results monthly
Trustee – attends meetings and participates on committees
How to Join the Board
All board members must be a member in good standing of the Seven Lakes Water Association. It is important to the effectiveness of the Association to have a variety of experiences and backgrounds among Board Members. Work experience or training in the following areas are valuable: Personnel Management, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Public Health, Public Affairs, and Utility experience.
Board positions have a defined term that expires at the time of elections, however, board positions can also open up due to resignations throughout the year. When an open position becomes available, that position will be advertised in the annual election or mid-term communications will be sent to members asking for volunteers. If you have an interest in joining the board, the first step is to complete a member questionnaire (Below), which will advise board members of your interest and provide us with your contact information.
Elections Process
If you have an interest in joining the board and there are no open positions, the only option will be to participate in the elections process. Once you have been confirmed as a member in good standing and the board has received your completed member questionnaire, your name will be placed on the ballot.

- Board Members are expected to attend monthly board meetings and one annual meeting in addition to participating in email communications throughout the month.
- All officers will be required to be added as signers to the Association’s bank accounts.
- Two board members will be assigned as Point of Contact for the General Manager.
- All board members will be asked to join a committee and work on tasks assigned to that committee.
- Board members should have basic technology skills and be able to send emails, attend virtual meetings and access online documents.
