Water Quality Test Results

Water samples are taken from around the service area all throughout the month, testing for chlorine residuals.  Residuals refers to the amount of chlorine remaining in the water after treatment — in other words, the amount you can expect to remain in your water at the tap.  Typically the amount is incredibly low in concentration, and nearly always very stable throughout the system.  This is thanks to cutting-edge, industry-standard equipment that is used to treat the water our wells produce.  Our Operations partners ensure the amount is low enough to keep taste great, but in enough concentration to keep the water clean, safe, and protect against recontamination right up to the point of use.  We log these measurements and track their averages, addressing any issues by adjusting our chlorine injectors, flushing, mixing, and other water management techniques to ensure the water in our system is always fresh and clean.

Additionally, samples are sent from locations throughout the service area to a Washington State Department of Health certified lab for analysis.  The lab is assaying our water for the presence of things like coliform and specifically E. coli.  There is a strict protocol for these contaminants, and we take their absence from our water supply very seriously.  We are sharing these test results with you as a way of inviting transparency, and keeping the lines of communication open with you, our customer.
