C3 is for Commercial accounts, and they are billed every month
  • WHY IS MY BILL HIGHER THAN USUAL?
Check your consumption on the bill;

The first thing you may want to do is verify that your water meter is turning. This can be done by going to your water meter and looking for the small triangle near the center of the meter (it will be either a red, black, or white triangle). If the triangle dial is turning and you know no water is turned on anywhere, water is going through your meter toward your home.

Common leaks are toilets that don’t shut off 100% after a flush. To check this, add a few drops of food coloring to the tank (do not flush), wait 10 – 15 minutes, and see if the coloring shows up in the bowl. If you see the food coloring in the bowl, your toilet is not shutting off 100%.

Other common leaks are where connections have been made between the meter and the house, outside faucets or yard hydrants, and tree roots can break water lines.

Seven Lakes Water personnel can assist you in determining if you have a leak and can provide advice, but we cannot locate the leak for you or perform work on your side of the water meter.  For assistance, please call our office between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.

  • HOW DO I READ MY METER?
Some meter boxes contain two or three meters.
The first step is to check the serial number to make sure you are reading your meter. Your serial number is printed on your bill, or you can call our office and we will provide it for you.
Once you’ve confirmed the correct meter, read the numbers from left to right. Disregard the last number, as it represents the decimal portion, or one-tenth of a gallon.

The serial number is located to the upper right (1580975656)

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
  • What activities are open to the members?
The SLWA is a solidly transparent organization and meetings of the Board of Trustees are held monthly (on the third Tuesday) at 6:30PM at the SLWA Offices. All regular meetings are open to all members.  Time is allotted for members to address the Board with questions or concerns.  There is also an annual meeting held at the same location on the first Saturday of November, usually at 1:00PM.  If there is to be a change in the time or venue, it will be posted on the SLWA website.
  • Can I visit the office and talk with someone?
Yes, the office hours are listed on the website and all members are welcome to drop in and speak with Deana Sweet, our Office Manager, about your service, your bill or anything that concerns you. Our General Manager, Mark Shay, is often in the building, when not in the field.  The GM should be able to answer questions about how our delivery system works or address questions about any observed system abnormalities.
  • I have some free time and would like to volunteer to help our Association - what can I do?
You can join as a Board of Trustee Volunteer to help with any number of projects that might be on-going. Start by attending a meeting and asking a few questions.  Let others know about your area of expertise and how you think you might be able to assist.
  • What if I want to join the Board of Trustees as a voting member?
The number of trustees is limited to seven (7) , and each volunteer Board Member has a defined duration of volunteer service.  Upon completion of that term, each position is advertised in the annual elections.  If there is a position that becomes vacant mid-term, the Board Members may elect an interested person to fill the position until the term expires.
  • What are the qualifications to join the Board of Trustees?
Any SLWA Member in good standing is eligible to join the Board of Trustees.  It is important to the effectiveness of the Association to have a variety of experiences and backgrounds among Board Members.  Work experience or training in the following areas are valuable: Personnel Management, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Public Health, Public Affairs, and Utility experience.
  • What are the expectations of Board Members?
First of all, Board Members are also Association members and get their drinking water from Seven Lakes Water.  Each is an unpaid volunteer that must commit to attending monthly meetings and serving in some capacity on a working group (Committee) to help form policy guidance.  A Board Member should expect to spend some time each week, either at a meeting and/or participating in collaborative interactions. Keep in mind that the demand for your time will vary depending on the current needs of our Association. Please note that the current Board is working hard to put systems and processes in place to reduce the number of hours that volunteers must invest.
  • What are the steps to getting more involved?
By visiting the SLWA website, you have taken the first step.  Look around and familiarize yourself by reviewing meeting minutes to get a sense of the issues being addressed by the Board.  The second step would be to attend a monthly meeting and familiarize yourself with the Board of Trustees and SLWA Employees.  The third step would be to speak with a Board Member or employee, citing your interest in becoming a more involved member.
